Arunachal Pradesh COVID-19 patient tests negative: official

Itanagar: The lone COVID-19 patient in Arunachal Pradesh has been tested negative after his swab sample was sent for test to the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) at Dibrugarh in Assam for the second time within 24 hours on Wednesday, a senior State government official said here.

The man from Medo Village in Lohit district was tested positive on April 1 and 7 after two tests were conducted with decrease in viral load. However, his third test was conducted on April 14 where it was found negative, Health Secretary P Prathiban informed.

“As per protocol, the sample was collected and sent for test within 24 hours and the result came out as a major succour to the State as he has recovered,” Prathiban said.

The Health Secretary added that the person who has been kept at an isolation ward at Tezu zonal hospital would be discharged from the hospital on Friday.

“Since the person wants to go for quarantine for another 14 days, the health authorities in the district will keep him in a quarantine facility,” Prathiban added.
