ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brigadier (Retd) Dr B D Mishra on Tuesday emphasised on the need for saving public funds of the state government. During a meeting with state Tourism, Transport, Civil Aviation minister Nakap Nalo at Raj Bhawan, the governor pointed out that at present the minimum limit of kilo meter age for replacement of tyres and tubes of state-owned vehicles are fixed at 16000 kilometers."This limit was fixed many years back when the road conditions were bad. Now the conditions of roads have improved. Further the standard of the tyre manufacturing has improved many fold, but no steps have been taken to review the earlier limit, for replacement of government vehicles tyres," he said. Mishra added that the vehicles in Raj Bhawan secretariat are safely using tyres up to 35000 kilometers. He said that at 16000 kilometers use, he has found the government vehicles tyres having substantial residual life for road run use and further added that early change of government vehicles tyres is a great drain on funds which is not justified. Mishra disclosed that he had written a detailed letter on this issue long time back but it is inexplicable as to why the funds saving measures have not been adopted.
Discussing on the tourism potential of the state, Mishra emphasised on tourism development in Vijaynagar area. In view of the road connectivity from Miao to Vijaynagar, the governor asked the minister to develop Vijaynagar as a tourist attraction spot. During the meeting, Nalo highlighted the internet connectivity problem in his constituency Taksing. The Governor, while assuring him to look into it, directed his commissioner to ensure that the internet connectivity problem is attended to at the earliest. Mishra added that he would take up the internet connectivity issue with the union minister for communication, an official communiqué informed here.
