ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik on Saturday underscored the state’s strategic significance, emphasising the necessity for constant vigilance due to its sensitive border with neighbouring countries. Speaking at a seminar organised by the 56 Infantry Division of the Indian Army at Likabali military station in Lower Siang district, Parnaik highlighted the need to bolster security along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) through advanced technology and community collaboration. The seminar, titled “Resurgent Arunachal: Integrated Development and Security Approach,” focused on the state’s strategic importance and socio-economic landscape, according to a Raj Bhawan communiqué. Parnaik stressed that security and development must go hand in hand, positioning Arunachal Pradesh at a critical juncture where both aspects must align for long-term progress. He advocated for deeper integration between local communities and security forces, fostering trust and cooperation in border management. Outlining his vision for Arunachal’s growth, the governor called for modernised governance, improved quality of life, and sustainable, inclusive development. Strengthening local administrations and encouraging grassroots participation in decision-making, he said, would reinforce democracy. Referring to the Centre’s Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP), Parnaik noted its goal of equipping border villages with essential infrastructure to ensure holistic development at the grassroots level.
