Arunachal Pradesh Honors Election Officials For Best Electoral Practices

Arunachal Pradesh honored 12 DEOs and 7 SPs for best electoral practices for Assembly and Parliamentary elections in 2024, with awards including cash prizes and recognition for SVEEP activities.

ITANAGAR: Nirvachan Bhavan hosted an award ceremony on Wednesday for the best electoral practices in Arunachal Pradesh for simultaneous Assembly and Parliamentary elections in 2024.

The event was organized by Chief Electoral Officer Pawan Kumar Sain, while Chief Secretary Manish Kumar Gupta and Director General of Police (DGP) Anand Mohan handed over the awards.

In total, 12 district election officers (DEOs) and seven Superintendents of Police (SPs) were felicitated under various categories. All the awards came with a certificate, a memento, and a cash prize of Rs 50,000 that was meant to be utilized in Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities.

Among the award winners, Sachin Rana, DEO of East Kameng, received an award for his retrieval plan, while Bomken Basar, SP Kurung Kumey, won an award in preventive policing. Other notable award winners included DEO Akriti Sagar of West Kameng and Kanki Darang of Tawang for good management in the remote areas, and Rujjum Rakshap of Lower Siang as DEO, for voter education programmes.

The Chief Secretary also launched the Flow of Instruction Compendium and Statistical Handbook in respect to simultaneous elections in 2024. Posters made by students of Kendriya Vidyalaya Naharlagun, Kendriya Vidyalaya Itanagar, and Vivekananda Kendriya Vidyalaya Chimpu were also recognized.

The award ceremony concluded with the Best Booth-Level Officer Award. It was presented to Tee Chowpoo, Tohua Misia, and Same Mikhu with a certificate, trophy, and Rs 10,000 cash prize. The state transgender icon of SVEEP, Marie Game, was also given the recognition in the event.
