Arunachal Pradesh receives Rs 550 crore NEC boost for infrastructure development

Arunachal Pradesh received developmental support worth Rs 550.02 crore during the 15th Finance Commission cycle under the North Eastern Council (NEC)'s SoNEC and NESIDS-Road programmes to strengthen connectivity, infrastructure and inclusive growth.

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh received developmental support worth Rs 550.02 crore during the 15th Finance Commission cycle under the North Eastern Council (NEC)'s SoNEC and NESIDS-Road programmes to strengthen connectivity, infrastructure and inclusive growth.

Officials said Rs 205.72 crore under SoNEC supported infrastructure development, livelihood generation and socio-economic projects, particularly in remote and border districts. Agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, bamboo cultivation and organic farming initiatives also received support.

Under NESIDS-Road, authorities sanctioned 10 road projects worth Rs 422.20 crore, of which eight projects valued at Rs 162.13 crore have already been completed. Key projects included the BRTF Road to Pidi in West Siang district and the Kodum CO headquarters-Bam Tri-junction road aimed at improving connectivity.

The NEC also supported youth and scientific outreach initiatives, while releasing an additional Rs 3.19 crore in April 2026 for ongoing projects related to education, fisheries and organic farming in the state.
