Arunachal Pradesh reports 85 fresh COVID cases, two deaths

ITANAGAR: The COVID-19 tally in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 53,302 with 85 more people testing positive for the infection, a senior health official said here on Sunday.

The death toll in the frontier State increased to 264, as two more persons from the Capital Complex Region, succumbed to the infection in the past two days, the official said. A 65-year-old man and a woman of 40 years of age, died at the Dedicated Covid Hospital (DCH) at Chimpu near here, on Friday and Saturday due to acute respiratory distress syndrome with Covid Pneumonia, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

The Capital Complex Region recorded the highest number of fresh cases at 21, followed by Lower Subansiri (16), Changlang (10) and five cases each from Papumpare, East Siang, Lower Dibang Valley and Tawang, the official said.

Three each fresh cases were also reported from Namsai and West Kameng, two each from West Siang, Lohit, Kamle and Dibang Valley and one each from Longding, Tirap, Upper Subansiri and Upper Siang district respectively, the SSO said. The active cases in the state now stand at 762, he said.

State Immunization Officer (SSO) Dr Dimong Padung informed that a total of 9,96,954 people had been administered COVID-19 vaccine doses so far in the State since the inoculation drive began in January this year.
