Itanagar: The Namsai-based Arunachal University of Studies (AUS) hosted a two-day workshop on the 'Right to Education' from January 20, sponsored by the National Human Rights Commission.

The event brought together educators, scholars, and policymakers to discuss the origins, implementation, and future of the Right to Education (RTE) Act. Vice-Chancellor Prof. DS Hernwal, in his inaugural address, emphasized the crucial role of teachers in ensuring the act's success.

Notable speakers included Dr. PC Swain from Indira Gandhi Government College, Dr. Prasenjit Borkakoti from DHSK Law College, and A. Athikho from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Roing. They explored topics such as RTE's history, challenges, and its role in strengthening the school ecosystem.

Dr Aparajita Dutta of Dibrugarh University presented an impact assessment of RTE, while Dr Aditya Prakash from Vivekananda Kendra College of Teacher Education discussed empowering teachers for inclusive education.
