Arunachal Pradesh Shines at 38th National Games with Four Medals, Including Gold

Arunachal Pradesh won four medals, including a gold by Mercy Ngaimong in Wushu, at the 38th National Games, raising its total to seven medals overall.

ITANAGAR: In a spectacular display of talent, Arunachal Pradesh bagged four medals, including one gold, on Friday at the 38th National Games, taking the total medal count of the state to seven.

Mercy Ngaimong won the Jianshu event of the Wushu competition, thus winning the second gold medal for the state in the ongoing Games. Ngaimong has a history of success, having previously won gold in the last two editions of the National Games held in Gujarat and Goa.

Markio Tario of the senior men's 67 kg category won a silver medal in the weightlifting arena. Tario achieved a total lift of 283 kgs, which comprised 128 kgs in snatch and 155 kgs in clean and jerk. Neelam Raju from Andhra Pradesh stood out by winning the gold medal in this category with a total lift of 289 kgs.

Balo Yalam of Arunachal Pradesh won the bronze medal in the senior women's 59 kg category with a combined total of 187 kgs. This was in snatch, which included 81 kgs and clean and jerk, which was 106 kgs. Odisha's Rima Bhoi won the gold medal.

Apart from that, Gyamar Yatup helped the state in tallying a medal with a bronze in Wushu in the 48 kg category. In total, Arunachal Pradesh has so far secured two gold, two silver, and three bronze medals in the ongoing National Games.
