Arunachal Pradesh: Tojo Karga promoted as IGP; Tumme Amo and Apang Tamut to DIGP grade

The union home ministry has promoted three IPS officers under Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadres

Itanagar: The union home ministry has promoted three IPS officers under Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadres, to the rank of Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) along with 37 others from all over the country. According to two separate notifications issued by the ministry on Wednesday, Tojo Karga, an IPS officer of the 2007 batch (AGMUT cadre), has been promoted to the rank of IGP.

Karga, currently posted in the cadre, will assume the IGP grade (level-14 in the pay matrix) with effect from January 1, this year or upon assumption of charge, whichever is later. Two other officers from the northeastern state - Tumme Amo and Apang Tamut, both from the 2011 batch of AGMUT cadre, have been elevated to the rank of DIGP. Their promotions to the DIGP grade (level-13A in the pay matrix) has taken effect from January 1, 2025, or upon taking charge.

The promotions announced by the ministry are part of a broader order aimed at strengthening the leadership ranks within the AGMUT cadre. These advancements reflect the dedication and service of the officers in contributing to the state and regional law enforcement efforts, official sources said.
