Arunachal: Safer Internet Day Promotes Cyber Awareness Across Districts

Safer Internet Day was observed in Tawang and other districts, emphasizing cyber safety and the importance of cautious internet use among citizens.

ITANAGAR: As part of a joint initiative to ensure cyber safety, Safer Internet Day was celebrated at the DC office in Arunachal's Tawang on Tuesday, presided over by Deputy Commissioner Kanki Darang. The function was graced by a cross-section of citizens, including Dr. DW Thongon, public leaders, and other officials.

While addressing the gathering, DC Darang highlighted the need for cyber awareness in the era of the internet. He said that though the internet offers vast information, it is also full of threats if the users are not cautious. He urged parents and children to utilize technology judiciously and warned against the dangers of clicking on suspicious links and sharing personal details, which can have serious financial and emotional repercussions.

The SP highlighted the phenomenal increase in cyber fraud cases and urged the people to come together and create awareness, especially in the rural areas. He assured the people that there is a cybercrime cell and requested the people to report any suspicious cyber activity to the authorities.

Likewise, in Upper Subansiri, the National Informatics Centre conducted an awareness program, during which DIO Dinesh Kr Rajak explained the pros and cons of internet technology. He highlighted that people should keep personal information secret in order to prevent cybercrimes.

Anjaw district also commemorated the day with a talk by DIO Sajal Gupta, who discussed a number of cyber threats, including cyberbullying and identity theft. West Kameng National Informatics Centre also engaged college students and teachers at Government College, Bomdila, to further propagate safe internet use.
