ITANAGAR: In the first four days of Arunachal SARAS Mela-2025, the Mela generated impressive sales, exceeding Rs. 40 lakhs, reflecting strong consumer demand for rural products in urban markets.

The SARAS Mela serves as a transformative platform for rural artisans, particularly women, empowering them economically and socially. By providing direct market access, the Mela promotes the "Vocal for Local" initiative and strengthens the rural economy.

Beyond product sales, the Mela features cultural performances by talented youth, including dance, singing, and flower arranging, enriching the cultural tapestry of the event. This holistic approach emphasizes the Mela's role as a celebration of the state's rural heritage and creativity.

The success of the SARAS Mela 2025 demonstrates the significant economic potential of rural communities when provided with the right platform. The event underscores the need for continued support for such initiatives to ensure sustained growth and empowerment for rural artisans and SHGs. NABARD has assured its continued support for the development of the rural economy in Arunachal Pradesh.

The Arunachal Pradesh State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM) is hosting the Arunachal SARAS Mela 2025 at the DK Convention Centre in Itanagar from January 13 to January 22, 2025.

This vibrant event, part of the Ministry of Rural Development's nationwide initiative, showcases the talents and enterprises of rural artisans and self-help groups (SHGs) from across India.

The Mela was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu, in the presence of state dignitaries. NABARD has extended its support to the initiative by providing grant assistance for the logistics of 10 out of the 54 stalls at the fair.

These stalls showcase a diverse range of products from across Arunachal Pradesh, including handloom and handicraft items, value-added processed foods, and unique Geographical Indication (GI) products.
