ITANAGAR: In a major enforcement drive, the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) has levied a fine of Rs. 1 lakh on each of the 35 schools in the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR). The move comes after the commission detected large-scale non-compliance with existing educational rules, including running unregistered private schools.
Apart from the monetary fines, the institutions in question have also been issued show-cause notices, mandating them to explain why they had breached the regulations. The APSCPCR Chairperson reiterated that the firm action demonstrates the commission's determination to see that all educational institutions within the region meet the stipulated standards, with due regard to the quality of education as well as the protection of children.
The commission has issued a stern warning that further penalties will be imposed on schools that do not take corrective measures to address their violations. To ensure compliance with child protection and educational standards, increased scrutiny and inspections will be implemented across Arunachal Pradesh.
The penalized schools are a combination of schools, including Aab Tebw Residential English School, Agepe Public School, and St. Claret School, among others. The move is part of a larger effort to apply legal standards to schools, compelling them to operate in the best interests of children and adhere to the standards set by the state.
