ITANAGAR: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced that every village in Arunachal Pradesh will have mobile network connectivity once its 4G saturation project is completed by June 30, 2024.
The update was shared by BSNL Arunachal Pradesh Business Area General Manager Saket Kr Verma during a Telecom Advisory Committee (TAC) meeting held recently.
"After the completion of the 4G saturation project, all network-related issues will be resolved, ensuring mobile connectivity in every village across the state," Verma stated.
He also outlined the progress of 4G expansion, including in Border Outpost (BOP) areas, the state government's telecom initiatives, and the challenges faced in implementing these projects.
Chairing the meeting, Member of Parliament Tapir Gao stressed the strategic importance of telecommunication in border areas, calling it crucial for national security. He urged the Indian Army, ITBP, paramilitary forces, and government departments to support BSNL in extending network coverage, particularly in 36 remote sites along the Indo-Tibetan border.
The MP assured assistance in providing electricity connections to critical BTS (Base Transceiver Station) sites.
ITBP DIG Angad Prasad Yadav highlighted the communication challenges at border outposts (BOPs), emphasizing the need for network expansion to maintain contact with headquarters and families.
Additionally, BSNL's Bharatnet, NE-2 Circle Principal General Manager Dilip Siram briefed the committee on the Bharatnet Project's progress in the state.
TAC members, including Nabam Vijay, Nabam Taping, Techi Nyajung, and Yowa Tajam, raised network-related concerns in their respective areas and urged BSNL to take necessary measures for improvement.
