NAHARLAGUN: A devastating water tank burst at St. Alphonsa School in Naharlagun has tragically claimed the lives of three students, leaving two others critically injured. Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has pledged accountability for the incident and expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
After three students tragically lost their lives and two others were critically injured in a water tank burst at St. Alphonsa School in Model Village, Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed his grief. He emphasized that "those responsible will be held accountable."
He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the grieving families and offered his support during this unimaginable loss.
Through his official X handle, he stated, "Deeply saddened by the tragic incident at St. Alphonsa School, Naharlagun, which claimed the lives of three young students and left two others critically injured."
The Arunachal Chief Minister announced that the administration has launched an investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile, he also declared ex gratia support for the families of the deceased and assistance for the injured, as per established norms.
He said, "We are committed to ensuring justice and extending all possible support. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured and strength to the grieving families in this difficult time."
The tragedy occurred during routine school activities, throwing the school into chaos. Emergency services quickly transported the injured to the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), but three students, all from Class 9, tragically succumbed to their injuries despite medical efforts. The two critically injured students are currently receiving intensive care.
