Arunachalee Mountaineers Scale Mt Kang Yatse-II peak In Ladakh

Itanagar: Two Arunachalee mountaineers – Tagit Sorang and Tabu Dayam have successfully scaled Mt Kang Yatse-II, a 6250-meter-high peak located in Ladakh of Jammu & Kashmir recently.

The mountaineers, who were part of the Mt Kang Yatse-II Summer Expedition, scaled the peak on July 31 last, a press release informed here on Saturday.

The expedition was organized by Boots & Cramphone Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad.

It was a 15- member expedition team who reached Leh on July 27 and the next day they proceeded to Samchugdo village, which is the last motorable place from where they trekked three days continuously uphill and reached the base camp of Mt Kang Yatse-II on July 30.

From the base camp, they pushed up for summit at midnight of July 30 and around 7.4 am on July 31, the three members reached the peak and another eight members climbed it around 8.30 am.

Reportedly, the expedition of Tagit and Tabu has been sponsored by Arunachal Pradesh Sports & Youth Affairs department.

A ‘B’ Group peak, every mountaineer usually resorts to climb such peak as part of their pre-Everest expedition.

Both Tagit and Tabu are aiming to climb Mt Everest in near future. Both of them have already acquired basic mountaineering course as well as advance course from NIMAS (National Institute of Mountaineering & Allied Sports) at Dirang in Arunachal Pradesh.

Earlier, Tagit climbed the Island Peak, which is above 6000 mtrs high and located in the Everest range, Nepal on April 16 last year, as part of his pre-Everest expedition, the release added.
