Arunachal’s Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi Receives 2024 Asom Prakashan Parishad Literary Award

Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi, a celebrated author from Arunachal Pradesh, has been awarded the 2024 Asom Prakashan Parishad Literary Award for his book Dhar Aru Anyanya Golpo by the Assam Publication Board.

ITANAGAR: Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi, a celebrated author from Arunachal Pradesh, has been awarded with the 2024 Asom Prakashan Parishad Literary Award for his book Dhar Aru Anyanya Golpo.

Presented by the Assam Publication Board, the award honors Thongchi's exceptional contribution to literature.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu congratulated the Padmashri recipient on social media, stating, “The Assam Publication Board has conferred this year’s prestigious Literature Award on renowned writer Padmashri Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi for his remarkable work, ‘Dhar Aru Anyanya Galpo’. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!"

Thongchi, celebrated for his compelling storytelling and cultural insights, remains a prominent figure in the literary world. His latest work, praised for its thematic richness and narrative brilliance, has earned widespread acclaim.

Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi, a distinguished literary figure from Arunachal Pradesh, has received numerous prestigious accolades over the years for his remarkable contributions to literature and culture.

Thongchi was honored with the Padmashri in 2020 and received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2005 for his Assamese novel Mouna Outh Mukhar Hriday. He has also been the recipient of the Kalaguru Bishnu Rabha Literary Award from the Axam Xahitya Xabha in 2001 and the Sukapha Award from the Assam government in 2021.

In 2017, he was bestowed with the Assam Valley Literary Award by the Williamson Magor Educational Trust, and in 2005, he received the Bhasha Bharati Award from the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysore. Other notable recognitions include the Acharjya Hazari Prasad Dwivedi Sanman from Hindi Parishad, Prayagraj (2019), the Bodosa Award from the All Moran Students Union (2019), and the Special Achievement Award (Literature) from the Buddhist Cultural Preservation Society, Bomdila (2013).

Thongchi’s illustrious career is marked by his dedication to literature and his profound influence on the cultural landscape.
