Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (retd) Dr BD Mishra on Monday advised the students of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), near here, on cent percent attendance, research and innovative activities and paper writing and presentations.
Attending the 36th Foundation Day of the central varsity, the Governor stressed that the students must take part in sports and co-curriculum activities as student life is the only opportunity for such healthy activities.
Extending his greetings to the university fraternity, Mishra commended the administration, faculty, staff and students for the achievements and new initiatives taken up by the RGU. He appreciated the university administration for felicitating the dedicated and sincere employees and the gaonburahs of nearby villages.
Stating that for a university to progress and succeed, there must be a study atmosphere and academic environment, the Governor called upon all stakeholders to make concerted effort to make the university one of the best in the country.
He also emphasised on transparency, accountability, honesty and correct utilization of funds in the infrastructure development of the university.
“The campus must be maintained and no encroachment must be allowed. There must be discipline, safety and security on the premises. Commercial activities must be reduced and drugs, cigarette and liquor reach in the campus must be eradicated,” he stressed.
Talking about the academic activities, the Governor said that while organizing seminars, conclaves, workshops, symposiums and academic meets, the organizing committee must take care not to be extravagant. What matters is as to who are the participants, what and of what standard the discussions have been done and the outcome and summary of the interactions.
Mishra advised the faculty members for thorough preparation of their lessons, taking up regular classes and affording the interaction with the students of a coach, friend, philosopher and guide.
The Governor advised the students to be entrepreneurs and job providers by availing start-up programmes.
RGU Vice-Chancellor Prof Saket Kushwaha briefed on the challenges and achievements of the University in the last 35 years.
