Bicycle expedition organized to motivate youths to join Army in Arunachal

Itanagar: The Third Battalion of Kumaon Regiment under the 117 Mountain Brigade has been organising a cycle expedition under the aegis of “DAO Division and 3 Corps”. The motto of the expedition is to inculcate the spirit of adventure and develop self confidence, team spirit and to motivate local youths of the area to join the Indian Army.

The expedition was flagged off by Commander 82 Mountain Brigade Brigadier Robi Kapoor at Tezu in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday, an official release informed here on Monday.

The 10-day expedition by a 10-member team would touch Salangam, Hayuliang, Changwinti and Walong and would reach Kibithu in Anjaw district bordering China on January 9 next.

The Kumoanis on saddle would be covering a mountainous terrain of 452 Kms from Tezu to Kibithu and back, experiencing a wide change in the altitude from 600 ft to 7000 ft.

The team would be interacting with the local youths and educate them about the recruiting process in the Indian Army. The team will also distribute pamphlets with necessary details for joining Indian Army in various ranks, the release added.
