ITANAGAR: The BJP members of Arunachal Pradesh staged a protest against the Chinese intrusion into Upper Subanisiri district and construction of buildings on the border. They also burnt the effigy of Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday.

Spokesperson of State BJP TechiNecha said that the Chinese have been claiming Arunachal as their territory and have been carrying out such intrusions into Arunachal. ''We strongly condemn such acts of the Chinese; and want to send a strong message to China that we are Indians.

The mentioned location was occupied in 1959 during the Congress regime and the Congress failed to protect the area and even failed to develop the border areas of Arunachal Pradesh, alleged Necha. While defending the ruling BJP government, the spokesperson said that now the BJP is constructing the 2000-km-long 'Arunachal Frontier Highway' along the McMahon Line. Roads and bridges in border areas like Galing in Upper Siang district as well as Kaho and Chaglagam in Anjaw district were already completed whereas the Congress didn't make any effort to construct the mentioned roads, he alleged. When asked about any failure in intelligence report or negligence of Central government despite the repeated caution by BJP MP from Arunachal East, Tapir Gao in the Parliament, the BJP spokesperson asserted that there is no ignorance but due to some diplomatic reason, the Center might be taking time to respond.

''China's position on the East sector of the China-India boundary, or Zangnan region (the southern part of China's Tibet), is consistent and clear. We have never recognised the so-called Arunachal Pradesh illegally established on the Chinese territory. China's normal construction on its own territory is entirely a matter of sovereignty,'' said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson HuaChunying in media.''
