CCTVs in Residences & Business Setups Will Contain Crimes: Bamang Felix

ITANAGAR: Installation of CCTV cameras in all business establishments and in private residents will contain crimes, said State Minister for Home Bamang Felix while inaugurating the first-ever verification mela for the tenants and employees residing here at Capital complex at Dorjee Khandu state Convention Centre on Sunday. The event was organized at three locations in Itanagar, Naharlagun and Nirjuli and organized by the Capital Police in collaboration with Arunachal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).

Addressing the gathering on the day, Felix said that the programme will benefit the people in terms of security. “We want every denizens of the capital to be safe and be secured from any kind of threat and through this verification details the work of police to provide immediate assistance will be solved,” he said.

He also requested the public to support the cause initiated by the Capital Police. The floating population needs to be checked by concerted and coordinated approach. He also briefed on the ‘Hamara Arunachal Abhiyaan’ and sought support from the public to make the mission a masses’ movement. Speaking to media persons, MLA Techi Kaso said that this approach will benefit every individual — irrespective of locals and the non-locals — residing in the capital. He added that providing information of the individuals from other districts residing in the capital will make it easy for the police department to work in case of any untoward incident.

Meanwhile, SP Tumme Ammo informed that this verification of people is done almost in every State for the security of the people. He said each private employee, government employee or maid of a house or waiter in a hotel should get verification from the police station first.

He added that he will also appraise the importance of the verification to the Deputy Commissioner of the district for the acceptance. He said that he had executed such an initiative on a sectorwise basis in Ziro, where he was the SP earlier.

Citing an example of the verification, the SP said this process will help in identifying the person involved in any kind of crime. “There may be instances that non-locals from Assam may enter the State fearing the NRC verification. So in such cases, this verification will help much to avoid illegal infiltration of illegal migrants too,” he added.

The SP also said the landlords, shopkeeper owners, hotel owners and others should fill the requisite form with an identity proof and submit it in the police station.
