DC asks tourism department to identify tourism sites for development in Arunachal

ITANAGAR: Kamle deputy commissioner Shasank Mani Tripathi has directed the tourism department to conduct a survey and identify sites. Presiding over the maiden tourism coordination and Kamle district ATS meeting at Raga, the district headquarters, on Thursday, the DC directed the department to identify trekking trails, angling sites, and rafting routes for development. He also insisted on promoting the Boori Booth festival, held in February every year, and ensured accommodation facilities by encouraging locals to enrol for opening home stays. Tripathi stressed developing various tourism products to promote and set realistic short-term and long-term tourism goals for the district.

District tourism officer Duyir Buni Yedi, through a PowerPoint presentation, highlighted the current tourism scenario in the district. She also gave a detailed account of the action plan for development and promotion of tourism, which will ensure economic benefit to the locals with sustainable growth. In the meeting, the members discussed various aspects of tourism, prospects, and challenges. Earlier, Arunachal Tourism Tour Operator Association (APTOA) president Tapan Gab, along with other members, stressed the various USPs, i.e., culture, nature, wildlife, and adventure, of the district and talked about the need for the establishment of proper accommodation to ensure overnight stays by the tourists.
