ITANAGAR: Kamle District Gram Panchayat chairperson Nido Borun on Monday filed an FIR against M/s TK Consortium Pvt Ltd., the Executive Engineer of PWD Ziro Division, Assistant Engineers of Raga Sub-Division, and Junior Engineers alleging misappropriation of Rs 139.62 crore during the construction of Tamen-Dollungmukh NEC road.

Borun informed in a press statement that he has filed the FIR in the SIC on Monday.

He said that the construction work for the stretch of a total of 107 km was awarded to the company in the year 2011 but it is yet to be completed to date. And according to the physical verification of the stretch, earth-cutting is only been executed for around 60 km.

Likewise, the GSB layer and WBM work is completed only around 50 km. Moreover, important aspects like premix carpeting, cash barrier, breast wall, retaining wall, drain angular, etc., are completely being ignored.

"Out of 13 numbers of bridges over rivers and streams, only one bridge has been constructed and the rest are missing. The claims are in light of the physical verification of the stretch. Therefore, we believe the corruption should be unearthed," he stated.

Borun also accused the PWD engineers of involvement in corruption by paying the bills without completion of the work and detailed measurements. He said that there is a certainty that the nexus between departmental officers and contractors is undoubtedly visible in embezzling of funds, otherwise the work should have been completed by now. He said that initially the contractor executed the work with full manpower and equipment till 2013. Subsequently, the next year there was no work continuation.

"The road, if it had been completed, would have connected not only Tamen-Dollungmukh and Assam but the nearby districts of the State. The public is shattered by the non-completion of the road due to corruption. Therefore, I seek proper investigation into the matter," he further stated.
