ITNAGAR: According to the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) University Ranking - 2023, the Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) of Arunachal Pradesh has the 16th rank among all of the central universities in the nation.

Academic Excellence, Research, Placement Performance, Corporate Interface, Placement Strategies and Support, Teaching Learning Resources & Pedagogy, and Future Orientation are the seven performance indicators that make up the ranking.

The list is headed by Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. Six institutions from the north-eastern region have reached it to the top 20 central universities (overall) ranking, which reflects the expansion of the higher education market in the northeast region.

In addition to RGU, it also comprised Sikkim University (Gangtok), Assam University (Silchar), North-Eastern Hill University (Shillong, Meghalaya), Tezpur University (Sonitpur, Assam), and Mizoram University (Aizawl).

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is ranked first overall among central universities in India according to the IIRF April 2023 rankings. The second and third places have been won by Banaras Hindu University and Aligarh Muslim University, respectively. The University of Hyderabad, Delhi University, and Jamia Millia Islamia have earned the fourth, fifth, and sixth spots, respectively.

While congratulating the faculty members, administrative staff, students, alumni, and all other stakeholders, RGU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Saket Kushwaha noted that this is a small step towards the university's goal of excellence and that such recognition confirms the university is moving in the right direction.

More than 1,000 institutions across the nation are ranked by the IIRF, including more than 300 universities, 350 engineering schools, 150 business schools, 50 law schools, 50 design schools, and 100 or more BBA and BCA undergraduate institutions.

The IIRF Centre for Institutional Research (ICIR) in India receives methodology and industry input guidance from the Federation for World Academics (FWA), which also serves as a mentor.
