Itanagar Police crackdown on counterfeit Harpic products in city markets

Itanagar: The Itanagar Capital Police have launched a decisive operation against counterfeit goods following a complaint filed by Ranjeet Kumar Sah, representing Alfa Intelligence Service Pvt Ltd. The company, which holds Power of Attorney from Reckitt Benckiser (India) Pvt Ltd, alerted authorities after discovering that fake Harpic toilet cleaner products were being sold in several shops across the Itanagar market.

Acting promptly on the complaint, a police team conducted a market raid on July 25.

During a survey, multiple outlets in the Gandhi and Ganga Market areas were found selling suspected counterfeit Harpic bottles.

The police team, led by SDPO Kengo Durchi and comprising Inspector K Yangfo (OC, PS Itanagar), sub-inspector Randhir Kumar Jha, SI Tage Nima, and other personnel, carried out coordinated raids at various shop locations under the supervision of SP Jummar Basar.

In the course of the operation, a significant quantity of counterfeit Harpic bottles in various sizes, including 1000 ml, 900 ml, 500 ml, and 200 ml, were seized from multiple shops. The seized items were sealed on the spot in the presence of the complainant and independent witnesses.

A case has been registered at the Itanagar Police Station under Section 63 of the Copyright Act, 1957, and Section 104 of the Trade Marks Act, 1999. The investigation has been entrusted to SI Randhir Kumar Jha for further legal proceedings. SP Basar urged citizens to remain alert and to report any suspicious or fake goods to the authorities without hesitation.
