Khelo India District Level Meet Tournament 2018-19 Concludes

NAMSAI: The Eight day-long festival of sports-Khelo India District Level Tournament 2018-19 concluded amidst an impressive function here at Namsai on Thursday.

In Football (Boys), Tai- Brothers F.C, emerged as winners beating Adi- Ningroo Village in penalty shootout 4-3 and in girls category, GSS Rangalibeel beat GSS Kumari.

GHSS Lathao lifted the winner trophy for Volleyball (Boys) beating GSS Manhofai in straight sets and GHSS Mahadevpur (Girls) beat GHSS, Namsai in straight sets.

Declaring the tournament closed in his speech, Chief Guest of the closing ceremony, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Namsai Bijoy Talukdar, termed the event as a grand success, with huge number of participants from almost all the parts of the district attending it.

He also took a dip at his childhood memories wherein he was quoted as saying ‘’Padoge Likhoge toh Banoge Nawab, Kheloge kudoge toh banoge kharab’’, which has now been proved wrong.

“Now that sports are also an integral part of our education, with the initiatives of the Govt. of India and the state government is being providing fund for the promotion of games & sports through various schemes and even up to 10 % reservation in Govt. jobs,” he said.

Former Zilla Parishad Chairman, Namsai district C.K. Mounglang while addressing the gathering, he expressed hope in the policies of the Govt. for the up gradation of games and sports.

He also termed the ‘’Khelo India’’ initiative a platform for the young talents in the district to show their latent talent to the world. He advised the youths to maintain discipline and play with sportsman spirit in their future.

Delivering his vote of thanks District Sports Officer, Namsai R. Mihu, thanked each and every individual who have contributed their bit for the successful conduct of the tournament.

He thanked the District Administration, Namsai for overall and continuous support during the conduct of the tournament.
