NABARD-sponsored skill training concludes in Arunachal Pradesh

ITANAGAR: The skill development training programmes (SDPs) on 'travel consultant' and 'food & beverage service - steward' for unemployed youths concluded in the Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday.

The SDPs were sponsored by the National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD) and implemented by Bethel Life Care Charitable Trust (BLCCT) in collaboration with Namsai Organic Spices and Agricultural Products Producer Co Ltd (NOSAAP).

More than 60 trainees from the Namsai, Changlang, Lower Dibang Valley, Longding, Papumpare, Lower Subansiri and Tawang districts of the State underwent the training.

BLCCT President Chandan Prasad highlighted both the skill development programmes and key objectives to raise the livelihood opportunities for the youths.

NOSAAP CEO Chau Athina Chauhai emphasized the scope and importance of skill training that would enhance the socio-economic status of rural masses, especially young entrepreneurs. He encouraged trainees to opt for successful career opportunities and motivated them to self-independent in the field of entrepreneurship.

He also shared his exposure on recently conducted North East Festival 2022 in Bangkok and shared the feasibility of the tourism gateway of Namsai.

Tourism Assistant Director Komni Langkam congratulated the trainees on receiving the certificates on successful completion of the training and said that the training would be beneficial in the sustainable development of career growth in the tourism sector.

DDM, NABARD Kamal Roy informed that the two SDPs are complimentary to support "My District My Project" to promote eco-tourism in Namsai and its nearby districts.

He added that tourism is emerging as one of the promising components of the State's economy and Arunachal Pradesh is becoming a hotspot for tourists, both national and international.

"The project is targeted towards promoting rural eco-tourism based on ecology, religion, culture, traditions including handloom and handicrafts as well as amalgamation of traditional dance and music with no environmental degradation," he said, and further highlighted the different developmental activities of NABARD for the uplift of rural people of the State.
