Guwahati: A new species of fish from genus Schizothorax has been found in Arunachal Pradesh.
The discovery was made by Dr Keshav Kumar Jha, an Associate professor, and Head, Department of Zoology of the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru College.
The fish has been christened as Schizothorax sikusirumensis, after the rivers - Siku and Sirum in East Siang District, where it was found at a junction.
It has been reported that the fish inhabits the waterlogged area of torrential river drainage.
