ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Information and Public Relations (IPR) Director Onyok Pertin said on Friday that the media is an important link between the government and the people, and should play a constructive role in society. Pertin was participating in the 'Vartalap' programme organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) here to mark the nine-year completion of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre. The PIB, under the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry, organized the event as a media workshop and a platform for interaction with the journalists based here. Addressing the event as chief guest, Capital DC Talo Potom revealed that he had seen more development in the last nine years in comparison to what he did not witness during his 30-year career in government jobs.
"The present central and state governments are truly committed to development," the DC added. Arunachal Press Club (APC) Vice President Bengia Ajum, in his deliberation, called upon the media and government officials to discharge their responsibilities honestly. During the 'Vartalap' programme, the Central Bureau of Communications (CBC) Itanagar also put up a mini-exhibition at the Press Club on the theme of '9 Years of Seva, Sushasan, and Garib Kalyan'. On the occasion, technical sessions were also organized on the National Education Policy and its implementation in Arunachal Pradesh, the Digital India Mission and Emerging Social Media platforms, the role of SIRD in Rural development, and banking-related Central government schemes.
Dr. Ratna Tayeng from Dera Natung Government College (DNGC) here, Yater Pari and Banya Boje of the state IT and Communication Department, Dr. Likha Kiran of SIRD, and Soibam Ranjit Singh, Chief Manager of SBI Lead Bank, participated as resource persons. Addressing the occasion, Assistant Director of PIB Kohima K. Sonikumar Singh briefed the media persons about the working of PIB, while Priyabhanshu Ranjan, officer-in-charge of PIB Itanagar, said that the formal establishment of a permanent office of the bureau would become a reality soon. Ranjan also informed about the journalist welfare scheme of the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry. The officer-in-charge of CBC Itanagar, Rakesh Doley, moderated the event.
