Polling official dies while performing duty in Tirap district

Itanagar: A polling official in Arunachal Pradesh died while performing duty in Tirap district Thursday, elections officials here informed. The person, identified as Tenak Socia who, was deployed as polling officer at Upper Primary School polling station under Khonsa West assembly constituency in Tirap district died due to cardiac arrest while performing duty, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Kangki Darang told reporters here. Socia was working as a work inspector under the water resources department. Terming the incident as ‘unfortunate’, Darang added that as per the laid down rules, the Commission would pay minimum ex-gratia of Rs 15 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased.
