ITANAGAR: Professor Tanie Natung and his team from NEIGRIHMS, Shillong, received the prestigious ‘Best of Indian Journal of Ophthalmology Award’ at the 40th Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) Congress, held in conjunction with the 83rd Annual Conference of the All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS).
The event, held from April 3-6, 2025, at Yashobhoomi, India International Convention & Expo Centre, New Delhi, recognized their research paper, "Comparison of Hill-RBF 3.0 with Barrett Universal II, SRK/T, Hoffer Q, Haigis, and Holladay 1 to predict the accuracy of post-cataract surgery refractive outcomes in Indian eyes."
This study compared various intraocular lens (IOL) calculation formulas used in cataract surgery, identifying the most accurate formula for predicting post-operative refractive outcomes in Indian eyes. The findings are expected to significantly improve cataract surgery outcomes globally.
