Student Police Cadet (SPC) Introduced In Arunachal Pradesh Schools

Itanagar: Student Police Cadet (SPC) has been introduced in 52 government higher secondary and secondary schools in Arunachal Pradesh under central funding, Capital SP Tumme Amo informed a conference here on Tuesday.

Addressing the second day of the three-day conference of all headmasters and principals of secondary and higher secondary schools here, Amo said that so far SPC has been launched in 52 schools and would be extended to other government schools in the state.

The Student Police Cadet Project is a school-based youth development initiative that trains high school students to evolve as future leaders of a democratic society by inculcating within them respect for the law, discipline, civic sense, empathy for vulnerable sections of society and resistance to social evils.

The project is being jointly implemented by the state home and education departments under central funding.

Speaking on the occasion, All Arunachal Private Schools Association (AAPSA) secretary Levy Kety, explained in details the planning, organization and functioning of private schools in the state and its achievement in academic as well as in other co-curricular activities.

Kety revealed that well organized and well planned manner in private school are due to sincere effort and dedication of the teachers followed by parents-teachers-students meeting from time to time which resulted in better academic results every year in comparison to government run schools.

Sports and Youth Affairs secretary Dani Sulu while narrating the importance of school curriculum suggested the education department to introduce sports as one of the compulsory subject in school curriculum.

The final day of the conference would be grace by Governor Brig (Retd) Dr BD Mishra on Wednesday.
