ITANAGAR: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday exhorted the BJP workers to work dedicatedly and sincerely for the welfare of the people, which is the responsibility of the party.
Attending the 196th birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule at state BJP office here, Rijiju, the union Law and Justice Minister, appreciated the Pema Khandu led government for initiating all round development in the state.
He also highlighted various developmental programs and policies of the BJP government at the Centre and stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, social reformation has been witnessed in the country and social justice has been provided by the government to the people.
“The priority of the Centre is to work on social justice and reformation. BJP is first to celebrate Phule jayanti to create awareness on social reform through his ideology,” the Lok Sabha MP from Arunachal West Parliamentary constituency said. He said that it is a proud movement for all to celebrate Jyotirao Phule’s jayanti who was a social reformer, thinker and social activist. Rijiju added that Phule was the forerunner of social reform concepts who organised awareness campaigns that eventually served as an inspiration for individuals like Mahatma Gandhi and Dr B R Ambedkar and other stalwarts who subsequently conducted significant actions to end caste oppression.
Rijiju also lamented over various abusive comments against the state government in various social media platforms and said that such propaganda is not good for the society. Tai Tagak, Advisor to Chief Minister Pema Khandu, in his address highlighted the biography of Jyotirao Phule and added that the ideas behind his never-ending struggle against societal stigma, which is still incredibly relevant today, may be his greatest legacy.
“People in the nineteenth century were accustomed to accepting these discriminatory practices as social norms that had to be upheld without question, but Phule worked to end caste, class and color discrimination. He was not just a social reformer and activist, but also a successful businessman,” Tagak added. State BJP general secretary Nalong Mize and secretary Titing Teri also spoke on the occasion.
