226th Baresohoriya Bhaona festival to be held from March 6 to 9 in Jamugurihat

JAMUGURIHAT: Jamugurihat is all set to celebrate the 226th Baresohoriya Bhaona festival which is scheduled to be held from March 6 to 9 with a four-day programme at Pokamura Pothar here which has been celebrated after every five years. The community service for preparation of the blooming lotus-like main mandap (pandal) began on Friday.. There is a tradition of preparation of the pandal by the villagers of the adjoining villages of Jamugurihat. Villagers from every village come out with bamboo, straw, hay, betel tree, thatching grasses, machete, knives etc. for preparation of the pandal. There will be 21 kholas wherein different bhaona teams from adjoining villages along with others perform 42 bhaonas. The respective teams will prepare their kholas where the bhaonas will be performed during the bhaona festival. All the kholas will be prepared with uniform measurement and with the same design. Spectators find no difference among all the kholas. They can identify the kholas only by unique number or by the name tags. The tradition of the community service for preparation of the blooming lotus like mandap by the villagers still exists in Jamugurihat which reflects unity, integrity, brotherhood, work culture, community harmony, bond of love among people.
