25 persons, including COVID-19 patient, discharged in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur District Health Department on Sunday discharged the 25 people, including COVID-19 patient Babu Ali, who had been kept in the mass quarantine facilities of the Lakhimpur district COVID-19 hospital set up at Telahi Model Hospital and Om Prakash Dinodia (OPD) College. The District Health Department has already released all the persons who had been kept in the mass quarantine facility for suspected coronavirus exposure.

Though Babu Ali, the Nizamuddin Jamaat attendee from the district who was detected COVID-19 positive on April 4, was discharged from the isolation ward of the COVID-19 Hospital on April 20, he was sent to the mass quarantine facility for 14 more days of observation in the same hospital. Further, in the wake of the detection of the fatal virus in him, 13 more persons who came in contact with him, had been kept in the mass quarantine facility of the same hospital.

On the other hand, 11 persons from Barpeta who were stranded in different parts of the district, were admitted in the mass quarantine facility set up at OPD College on April 12 immediately after one of their companions named Ali Hussain died under mysterious conditions at Moktab Madrassa under Naoboicha Circle. Since then they had also been under observation. During the observation period, swab samples of all of these persons were tested repeatedly and no coronavirus was detected in them. On Sunday, the District Health Department released all them from the mass quarantine facilities. The district administration will send these 11 people from Barpeta district to their native places on Monday.

On the other hand, the Lakhimpur District Health Department on Saturday sent 12 swab samples of medical employees, who rendered their service in the fight against the pandemic, to the Regional Viral Research and Diagnostic Laboratory, ICMR, RMRC of Dibrugarh district for COVID-19 test. The result of the tests was reported on Sunday to the District Health Department. The result of the tests was reported negative for COVID-19.

At present, the second 7-member batch of the medical team who treated the COVID-19 patient of the district, has been under quarantine. Of them, one doctor is at Hotel Maple Leaf while the rest medical and para-medical employees are in hotel A&A2.

The number of people stamped for home quarantine in the district went up to 5,440 on Sunday. The Health Department stamped 278 people of the district for home quarantine on Saturday, while 10 people were stamped on Sunday. On the other hand, 178 persons on Saturday and 44 people on Sunday completed their 28-day long home quarantine period in the district. A total of 4,180 people of the district already completed their home quarantine in the district till date.
