DHUBRI: A 300-metre storm water drain is to be constructed to ease water-logging in the police reserve connecting Dhubri bus terminal.
Bilasipara (East) legislator Ashok Kumar Singhi, along with Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Anant Lal Gyani and Dhubri Superintendent of Police Anand Mishra, on Sunday physically inspected the narrow drainage water outlet of Dhubri Police Reserve clogged by encroachment and blockage.
Both Gyani and Mishra explained the problems to legislator Singhi and told him that during the rainy season, water from the outlet spills over to quarters of police personnel and other staff and the entire low-lying area of the police reserve remains inundated for months together.
Singhi, after having heard and inspected the area, assured to construct the drain with outlet, works of which would start from mid-December. Earlier on the same day, foundation stone of three police barracks were laid by Bilasipara (East) legislator Ashok Kumar Singhi, Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Anant Lal Gyani and Superintendent of Police Anand Mishra respectively. The three barracks will come up in Dhubri, Sapatgram and Tamarhat of Dhubri district.
Dhubri Superintendent of Police Anand Mishra, while talking to The Sentinel, informed that these barracks would fulfill a long-felt need of police personnel. The barracks will be constructed under Moitri scheme. Mishra also informed that this barracks would be constructed with Pre-Engineering Building (PEB) technology, developed by Housefed.
