TEZPUR: With one person dead, 88 new positive cases were detected in Sonitpur district on Thursday. The total number of active cases in the district was 403, taking the total caseload in the district to 8,756 since May of last year till Thursday. These cases were reported from various parts of the district. Official sources said that COVID positive Binod Thakur (32) of Thelamara in Sonitpur district died at Tezpur Medical College and Hospital on Thursday. However, following increase in positive cases, the district administration has declared 25 areas as containment zones in the district.
