AASAA Expresses Gratitude to Tinsukia Police for Rescuing Missing Minors

The Tinsukia District chapter of AASAA thanks Tinsukia Police for safely rescuing four missing minors from Arunachal Pradesh.

DIGBOI: The Tinsukia District chapter of All Adivasi Student Association of Assam (AASAA) today expressed gratitude towards the Tinsukia District Unit of Assam Police for safely rescuing the four missing minors from two different districts of Arunachal Pradesh today.

Three children were rescued from Zero in Lower Subansiri District while one minor was traced and rescued from Itanagar with the active assistance of Naharlagan Police in Papumpare District.

“We had filed a missing complaint with the SP Tinsukia to this effect on March 17 and the swift action of the joint Assam and Arunachal Police subsequently brought the desired output on March 19 thus rescuing the children safely from Arunachal Pradesh,” said Albert Oriya, President of AASAA Tinsukia District. According to Oriya, all the four missing children belonging to various age groups hailed from the Hukanpukhuri area under Digboi Police Station.

If the statements of the minors are to be taken into account, they were engaged in various categories of manual work thus deprived of their right to elementary education. The children, who were handed over subsequently to their respective guardians on Thursday, were called by the District Child Protection Office for needful counselling today afternoon.

The SP Tinsukia, when contacted, highlighted the roles of the parents in proper upbringing and timely counselling of their children in regard to the growing menace of human trafficking in the region.

“We have cases of missing persons under different circumstances including want for jobs, eloping, and domestic disharmony,” said the top cop adding, “The police take a strong cognizance related to crimes against minors and women whatsoever.”

“Besides the four, we have also rescued two more minor boys from Arunachal’s Raga recently who hail from Bordumsa’s  No. 2 Mohong and nearby Mohong Basti under Bordumsa Police Station in Tinsukia district,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mihin Gambo, SP Nagalagan, while talking to The Sentinel, confirmed having rescued a minor from his jurisdiction on Thursday. According to him, the minor was engaged by a resident therein as manual labour.

“However, two minors from Dibrugarh District intending to go to Bengaluru mistakenly landed at Itanagar recently, who were subsequently rescued by my police team and liaising with the local police therein, the minors were reunited with their guardian,” said Gambo.

Meanwhile, the recovery of the dead bodies of two missing minor girls from a river bank at Dhemaji’s Jonai No. 1 Milanpur Gaon today evening has sent shock waves across the society. According to Dhemaji Police, the girls had reportedly gone missing on Wednesday.
