HOJAI: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has won 12 seats in the University student body elections held at Rabindranath Tagore University in Hojai on Friday. ABVP has been contesting the elections separately, but the two other organizations NSUI and Mahakal were campaigning together to defeat ABVP. There was a tensed situation at the beginning of polling, but the polling was conducted peacefully. With the intervention of the police.
Counting of votes started at 1 pm. Out of 3,289 students only 1,363 students had cast their votes. ABVP won all the 12 seats with a huge margin. ABVP Hojai District Committee Vice President Dilip Biswas and Former State Assistant Secretary Madan Dutta both appreciated ABVP workers for their victory and urged that student body to continue its work.
The winning candidates are Chinmay Karmakar who became the president, Kalamchan Tisso became the vice president, Dhwani Panshu became the general secretary, Debarshi Mandal became the Assistant Secretary.
