MANGALDAI: All Darrang District Students’ Union (ADDSU) has expressed serious concern over the poor academic atmosphere of a section of government run secondary level educational institutions of the district functioning without the heads and the holding of these vacant posts by the Inspector of Schools (IS) of the Darrang District Circle.

A delegation of ADDSU led by its President Raju Sarma and General Secretary Hriday Baruah met Darrang District Commissioner Parag Kr Kakaty at his office on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma through the District Commissioner and demanded early filling up the posts and also action against the Inspector of Schools for holding all the  posts allegedly for vested interest. Informing it to media on Wednesday, the office bearers of ADDSU stated that the heads of as many as 19 secondary level educational institutions lying vacant for long and the Inspector of School without appointing anybody even on a temporary basis, has been holding all the posts for vested interest thereby affecting the overall academic atmosphere of the institutions. Strongly criticizing the role of the Inspector of Schools, the ADDSU alleged that the officer has least interest for the development of the provincialised schools which are established and grew with the sacrifices of the many educationally conscious local people. The officer kept the office of those school heads under lock and key and used to run the institutions from his rented house here far from the area of the establishment. The press statement also levelled allegations against the Inspector of Schools of being very irregular in her office and also allowing an environment of corrupt practices for resolving different issues of the teachers coming from far and wide of the district.
