BILASIPARA: Under the aegis of Linguistic Minority Cell of AGP, the Bilasipara branch headed by Mithun Roy immersed the abandoned idols of different gods and goddesses in the Gaurang river observing Hindu religious rituals. The step has been appreciated by people of all walks of life who encouraged Mithun Roy to continue the programme in other places of the state also. On enquiry, Mithun Roy said that Hindus worship different gods goddess, spending lakhs of rupees on their idols, but after worship, a good number of people do not immerge the idols properly and abandon them at roadsides, cremation ghats, etc. places which were odd for the idols. Mithun Roy said that hence he had taken up the programme.
