Guwahati: In partnership with the District Health Society, Kamrup, AIIMS Guwahati hosted a multispecialty health camp at Batahidia Char Primary Health Centre (PHC) as a major move to increase access to healthcare in isolated and underprivileged communities. The purpose of the December 10, 2024, camp was to offer basic medical care to the locals living on an island under the jurisdiction of the Chaygaon Block PHC in Kamrup District.
General Medicine, Gynaecology, Community and Family Medicine, Orthopaedics, Dentistry, Paediatrics, Dermatology, ENT, Pharmacology, Ophthalmology, and the Drone and Remote Medicine team were among the departments that sent a team of experts and medical professionals to the camp. More than 200 people with various medical issues were treated.
The health camp benefited from AIIMS Guwahati's cutting-edge drone-based medical services in addition to on-site consultations. In order to ensure prompt diagnosis and follow-up care, diagnostic samples taken from patients at Batahidia Char PHC were flown to AIIMS Guwahati for additional testing. The goal of this program, which is a component of a continuing partnership between AIIMS Guwahati, National Health Mission (NHM) Assam, and the Joint Director of Health Services, Kamrup, is to enhance the provision of healthcare in the area's remote and riverine areas.
The Executive Director of AIIMS Guwahati, Dr. Ashok Puranik, affirmed his dedication to expanding access to healthcare and said, "AIIMS Guwahati is dedicated to reaching out to remote communities, leveraging technology and expert medical services to bridge the healthcare gap in these regions."
