DOOMDOOMA: The four-day long celebration of the 51st foundation day of All Moran Students’ Union (AMSU) and 2nd Moran Janajatiya Sanskritik Samaroh came to an end on Tuesday night at Shri Shri Vishnubhuj Samannay Kshetra at Dorjijan Public playground, Kordoiguri, about 18 km away from Doomdooma.
Addressing the concluding day open session as chief speaker held under the presidentship of Sanjit Moran, president of Talap-Kordoiguri Anchalik Moran Chatra Santha, Thuleswar Chutia, adviser of Sadou Moran Kala-Sanskriti Kendra, said that the Morans were rich on the cultural front. ‘Gachar Talor Bihu’ celebrated by the Morans in conformity with the Bihu festival of Assam was one such distinct characteristic of the Morans. He laid great stress on preserving the culture and not to be swayed away by the winds of modernism.
The meeting, which was inaugurated by Naba Moran, secretary of AMSU, was attended by Dulal Moran, president of Asam Moran Sabha, Surajit Moran, president of Asam Jatiya Yuba-Chatra Parishad (AJYCP), Tinsukia District Committee, Arun Jyoti Moran, president of AMSU, Birinchi Neog, former president of AMSU, and Sewali Kakati, president of Moran Mahila Parishad. A souvenir was also released in the meeting.
Besides various competitions during the day, cultural nigh programmes were held in the evening on all three days. The celebration came to an end with celebration of ‘Rati Bihu’.
