Annual meet of Senior Citizens Forum’s Sootea chapter held at Natya Bhawan

The annual meeting of the Sootea chapter of the Senior Citizens Forum was held at Sootea Natya Bhawan on Thursday with Dilip Barkataky, president of the Sootea chapter, in the chair.

JAMUGURIHAT: The annual meeting of the Sootea chapter of the Senior Citizens Forum was held at Sootea Natya Bhawan on Thursday with Dilip Barkataky, president of the Sootea chapter, in the chair. Dharmananda Nath, secretary of the branch, explained the objectives of the meeting at the very outset. The annual meeting was addressed by Chandan Barua, secretary of the Gohpur chapter of the Senior Citizens Forum, who graced the occasion as a distinguished guest. Barua spoke about various issues and problems pertaining to the senior citizens, such as curtailment of the facilities at railway services, government buses, non-availability of special facilities for senior citizens at financial institutions, post offices, etc. He made a humble request to the state government to facilitate the senior citizens with basic facilities for them.

There are 105 general members of the Sootea branch of the Senior Citizens Forum. The general meeting selected Dilip Barkataky, Dharmananda Nath, Bhaba Saikia, Kamala Das, and Bangshi Bharali as delegates for the state conference to be held at Duliajan on July 5 and July 6, respectively. The meeting was addressed by Bhaba Saikia, president of the Biswanath district committee of the Senior Citizens Forum; Purna Boram Naren Bora; and Bichitra Bora, among others.
