Anurag Kashyap appeals to the people not to miss the world premiere of Bhaskar Hazarika's"Aamis"

Guwahati: Indian Film Director Anurag Kashyap appealed to the people through his twitter account that if anyone would be present in the New York city during the Tribeca Film Festival (TFF) then they should not miss the premiere of the Assamese feature film of Bhaskar Hazarika "Aamis" saying that nothing like it has ever come out of India.

The world premiere of Assamese feature film written and directed by Bhaskar Hazarika "Aamis" will be seen in this year TFF in New York to be held from April 24 to May 5.

Aamis is Hazarika's second film, the first being the Kathanodi which has won India's National Award for the best feature film in 2016, Jio MAMI Film festival in 2015, Goteborg Film Festival 2016 and IFFLA 2016.

The film is about two people whom love finds and yet with too many boundaries between them it degenerates into self-destruction. Their love facilitated by urban anonymity, access to public eateries and instant messaging apps. The film depicts a bleak nihilistic view of life where every emerging character scarred in the end no matter what choices are made.

The film depicts about a paediatrician, Nirmali who is in her late 30s and is leading a peaceful but joyless domestic life in Guwahati, Assam and her husband who is a senior doctor spends most of his time doing relief work in surrounding areas leaving his wife alone at home to take care of their son.

Meanwhile, Nirmali meets Sumon who was a young PhD student researching food habits in northeastern India who warms her up to a manner she seems unaccustomed to.

The film also stars Lima Das, Arghadeep Barua, Neetali Das, Sagar Saurabh, Manash K Das, Momee Borah, Samarjyoti Sarkar, Chandan Bhuyan and Utkal Hazowari. The cinematography of the film is done by Riju Das and the music is composed by Quan Bay. The editor of the film is Shweta Rai Chamling.

The film is produced by Poonam Goel and Shyam Bora while Anshulika Dubey and Priyanka Agarwal are the co-producers.

Director Bhaskar Hazarika had earlier informed that in Assam, they shall go for a theatrical release by July 2019. The film has also won the 'Facebook Award' at the 12th NFDC Film Bazaar in Goa.
