Arms and ammunition recovered by Chirang district police

BONGAIGAON: Chirang district police recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition on Thursday. Talking to mediapersons, Sudhakar Sing, Chirang Superintendent of Police, said that based on specific input, a search operation was conducted at Subaijhar PWD road of No 1 Uttarpara village under Bijni PS of Chirang district by Chirang Police led by Additional SP Chirang and SDPO Bijni.

"During the operation, two factory-made AK series rifles along with two magazines, 167 numbers of AK live ammunition and 7 numbers of 5.56 Insas rifle live ammunition were recovered. These were found kept concealed under the ground. It is not confirmed yet which organization is involved in this. We have started investigation in this matter," said the SP.
