Ashray Mahila Samaj sets example of communal harmony by donating to a namghar

LAKHIMPUR: True spirituality, humanism and harmony in the society are above all the rituals and man-made customs. There is no place for dogmatism in true religion. Proving the eternal truth of the noble message, Ashray Mahila Samaj of Lakhimpur, a society of women following the ideology of Islam, contributed to a namghar of the district. The organization on Sunday donated Rs 7000 to the Borimuri Namghar located on the outskirts of North Lakhimpur town.

On this occasion, a programme along with naam-kirtan was organized in the namghar wherein Ashray Mohila Samaj president Asfia Begum, secretary Tazwar Sultana Talukdar and other members handed over the cash to Namghar Management and Development Committee president Gunin Dutta.

Attending the programme, media adviser of the organization, Farhana Ahmed said that Hindus and Muslims represented the national and social identity of the Assamese. “It is just a little effort to strengthen the bond of love and harmony in the greater Assamese society,” she added further.

Namghar Management and Development Committee secretary Nitul Sarmah appreciated the gesture of the members of the organization while addressing the gathering. At the end of the programme, the members of the organization took blessings of the Almighty in the presence of Bhagawat Samaj of the namghar, other dignitaries and devotees.
