Asom Anusuchit Jati Yuba-Chatra Santha (AAJYCS) to observe Ambedkar Jayanti in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: The Asom Anusuchit Jati Yuba-Chatra Santha (AAJYCS), the youths’ and students’ organization of the Scheduled Caste (SC) community of the State, will centrally celebrate the Ambedkar Jayanti in Lakhimpur on April 14. The organization will celebrate the Rongali Bihu on the same day by organizing an event under the title of ‘Rongali Bihu Adarani’ as ‘Goru Bihu’ falls on the day. The events will be held in North Lakhimpur town at Ambedkar Statue premises, which was set up by Anusuchit Jati Karmi Parishad, led by adviser Deuti Das, president Narayan Das and secretary Raghu Das, 23 years back. In order to conduct the both events successfully, the organization has been undertaking extensive preparations by constituting a 31-membered organizing committee with Deuti Das as chief adviser, Bogen Kumar Das as president, Bubul Das as working president, Fatik Das and Dipak Basfore as joint secretaries, Sunanda Das as cultural secretary, Rajesh Das as finance secretary.

Organizing committee president, joint secretaries and the cultural secretary informed that the agenda of the events would begin with Nam-Prasanga at 8.30 am with the devotees of Dowarpar village led by Jiten Das and lighting of ceremonial lamp by Bichitra Narayan Saikia. Then Dr. Ambedkar’s statue will be garlanded by Deuti Das. It will be followed by a Shradhanjali event as tribute to Umesh Das, former president of the AAJYCS. From 10.30 am, a total of 50 prominent persons including senior citizens, social workers, cultural exponents will be feted in connection with Rongali Bihu celebration. Then noted social worker Sarulora Saikia memorial open stage will be inaugurated by academician-poet Dr. Ramesh Kumar Kakati. From 1:00 pm, the open session will commence with Fatik Das in the chair. AAJYCS central committee president Nripen Das will grace the occasion as chief guest while a galaxy of prominent figures of the State will be present as guests of honour.
