Asom Sahitya Sabha Secretary-General tests COVID-19 positive

After testing positive for the virus, the Asom Sahitya Sabha Secretary-General has decided to stay in home isolation

Guwahati: Jadav Sharma, the Secretary-General of the Asom Sahitya Sabha, has become the latest prominent litterateur from the State to test positive for the dreaded coronavirus disease.

Sarma was tested for traces of the Wuhan-originating virus after he began suffering from cold and cough -- two of the classic symptoms associated with the virus.

Jadav Sarma went for the Rapid Antigen Test On Tuesday and as per the result, he has tested positive for the dreaded coronavirus.

After testing positive for the coronavirusvirus, the Asom Sahitya Sabha Secretary-General has decided to stay in home isolation. The health department also filled up all the forms for formality and advised Sarma to go for home isolation as his condition is fairly stable.

The post of the Asom Sahitya Sabha's secretary-general was won by Jadav Sarma earlier this year in the month of January. Sarma had secured the post after winning 323 votes in the crucial election.

India has recorded more than 27.67 lakh cases of the novel coronavirus and 52,889 deaths, according to the Union Health Ministry's latest update at 8 am on Wednesday.

Of these, over 6.76 lakh are active cases while more than 20.37 lakh have recovered from the infection.
