Assam: 1 lakh landless indigenous families get land pattas

Guwahati: Reiterating BJP Government's commitment to preserve ''Jati, Maati, Bheti'', Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal distributed land pattas and sanction letters to 1 lakh landless indigenous families in Majuli on Monday.

Speaking on the land patta distribution ceremony in Majuli, Chief Minister Sonowal highlighted the various welfare schemes undertaken by his government for the indigenous communities of the state.

On the same day, State finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also distributed land pattas to people in Jorhat.

Sarma took to Twitter and said that this year, the Government of Assam has distributed over 2000 periodic pattas and allotment certificates which is more than their balance target.

Sarma emphasized that the Assam Government has not just undertaken the development schemes but also has been working towards the preservation of the identity and culture of the indigenous people.
