DIMA HASAO: In a tragic incident on Sunday, a 15-year-old female student Ringmali Langthasa was found dead after jumping allegedly from a moving train at Dauthuhaja railway station in Dima Hasao district, Assam.
The young lady was accompanied by her friend, Josringdi Sengyung. They had boarded the train from Maibang railway station to Dauthuhaja station, which was the closest station to their village, Tapa.
Unfortunately, the train they boarded had no scheduled stop at Dauthuhaja. In a moment of panic, both girls decided to jump off the moving train as it passed through the station.
Both girls suffered serious injuries in the jump. Ringmali Langthasa died on the spot before any medical help could reach her. Meanwhile, Josringdi Sengyung was critically injured. She was taken to Maibang Primary Health Centre (PHC) for first aid and later referred to Haflong Civil Hospital for further treatment.
The two students were staying in Maibang Higher Secondary School and were moving out for holidays when tragedy struck. This gory incident has sent tremors in the local system in terms of safety checks over passengers and awareness drives among train passengers, primarily those who are students themselves.
So far, officials have not released anything about the developments and circumstances of the incident into the public domain.
